Background

Several lifetimes ago Aren, or rather Ares as he was once known as, used to be an alchemist and hunter of Elpis. His task was to return escaped beasts that were deemed far too dangerous to Pandaemonium. Ares soon grew attached to the thrill of the hunt, the rush of adrenaline and certainly the fight against powerful beasts. In his duty Ares found home, he truly enjoyed his occupation as he was able to work by himself in peace and quiet. Of course this also came with the scorn of his peers. Ares loved the physicality of his tasks and despite him sticking out like a sore thumb no one could deny that he became notorious for his dedication to his craft. Eventually one might rumour that Ares was the best hunter in Elpis, who knows if that rumour holds any truth.
But on one fateful day everything Ares worked for came crumbling down upon him. It seemed like any other day and so he picked up his arms and ventured out onto a hunt as per usual. Prior to this event he was given white robes, a feat only a handful of ancients had accomplished. The reasoning was simple. Ares was second to none in his field and carried out his tasks swift and without question. However he wouldn't wear them for long. Ares was sent out but it wasn't a hunt he went on, he was lured into a trap. His vision darkened and the last glimpse of light he saw vanished by the shadow of Lahabrea.
Soon after these events Ares awoke imprisoned in the dephts of Pandaemonium. Not as a hunter or warden but as a beast locked away. There Lahabrea would experiment and torment Ares until he was merged with an odd entity made of blackened mist. Said mist was Ares' only companion and soon the two befriended each other. They lived in symbosis as neither wanted to be alone. Ares' free spirit was caged and now he knew what it must feel like for every other beast or creation he returned. Sorrow seeped into his heart, anger and rage boiled up but all of it was kept restrained and eventually the vibrant purple eyes of Ares turned into a glowing shade of crimson. Not only was he locked away like some animal but he was also seperated from the person he kept dear.
Weeks, months, years, decades went by until the sundering was afoot. Ares was completely unaware of what was going on in the world of the free but eventually as all hell broke loose so did Ares. He was unlike any of his kin. Once he was a noble hunter and now he is a beast let loose. The bottled up anger was let out upon the blasphemies. A fire in his soul burned to claim vengeance but before Ares was able to track down his tormentor, he fell. Sundered into pieces.
However this was not the end of Ares. In a fateful encounter with a soul deeply connected to Ares everything returned to him and the viera who was once known as Aren and lived in the Rak'tika Greatwoods once again turned into Ares, the hunter.

Nowadays

In the current world Aren is a curious wanderer and sellblade. Instead of rampaging across the star he has sworn to live a more fulfilling life. His desire is to explore and live among the others. Friends and family have opened his eyes that carnage is not always the answer and thus the viera now lives in Kugane in an old yet rebuilt shrine. Sooner or later Aren will set out on glorious adventure once again...
